Obviously I am seriously mistaken.

I always thought the point of being in politics was to get more people to vote for you, not less.

Let's punch out some polls!

Update: And a little Tony Abbott quote for all the lady voters out there:

"We have a bizarre double standard, a bizarre double standard in this country where someone who kills a pregnant woman's baby is guilty of murder but a woman who aborts an unborn baby is simply exercising choice."

I think we have the Liberal Party's 2010 election slogan!

  3. HA HA HA HA HA HA. HAH!

WHO THE EFF IS GOING TO VOTE FOR A THUG LIKE ABBOTT?

Witness the self immolation of the liberal party's election hopes.

Surely they MUST consider another spill motion. This may risk undermining faith in the stability of the party YET AGAIN but why stop now? That's already happened. If they stick with this turd they'll sink.

  4. i'm naturally liberal (although a swinger lately) but i voted against howard last election (how i hate that man).
i would have voted for Turnball (or Hockey) over KRudd becuase i'm really disliking Rudd now

but i will vote for anybody before i vote for Tony Abbott
my only hope is that, after getting smashed next election, he quits politics. Which won't happen cause he's an arrogant dumb c*#t

Looks like i'll be 'that guy' that votes for the democrats again

  5. I maintain that it's a plot by Joe Hockey to clean the Libs out of all the old guard so that he can sweep in and save the day in the next leadership challenge.

Kiki - If only it were possible to actually vote for a Democrat ...

  6. 99% of politicians should take a long walk off a very short pier...although being as full of hot air as they are they'd probably just float around on the ocean instead of sinking to the depths.

  7. I'm just glad I'm not under as much public scrutiny as they are.

Even their partial bad stuff is made up to be pure evil. Man, I'd be stuffed.

Look at Rann-y; he's doing alright for himself - deny, deny, deny.

  8. I've got a mate who was partly raised by a politician (State) and so he's had quite a close look at what it's like to be one. It is probably one of the hardest, longest jobs out there. Their pay is significant, but if it were broken down to an hourly rate, they are pretty much on pair with the guy scanning your groceries at the supermarket and the guy scanning your groceries gets thanked at 10,000 times more for his work.

    That said, Tony Abbott?!?

  9. Indeed Franzy, indeed. 'Tis a resurrection for the old guard. Probably sacrificial. Inspite of Mr Rudd turning out to be something of a dud, he's going to win the next election because of the Abbott-win-smash-your-head-in factor.

Mind you the implosion / loss of Turnbull was as inevitable as night follows day. I remember him from the republican debates and referendum, and he has not changed. His fall was predicted back then... anybody who thinks they can win be shouting louder and longer is doomed... and that was he.

  10. shutup. i am listening. no you shut up. right, i'm going to say it. you wouldn't dare. don't tempt me. i'll do it. go right ahead darlin'. right - 'labors plan doesn't make any sense and i'm hearing so many arguments from climate change sceptics and i actually, cringe, don't mind tony abbott. sorry.

  11. Ninja - Don't worry. Hearing many arguments and many arguments making sense are two entirely different things! We still love you.
And we love Tony too. I remember back in the day wishing that he would oust Howard as leader so that suddenly everyone would stop voting for them.

  15. A Staff Infection can be differentiated from other aerobic and facultative anaerobic gram positive cocci by several simple tests. Staphylococcus spp. are facultative anaerobes. Facultative anaerobes are capable of growth both aerobically and anaerobically. All species grow in the presence of bile salts and are catalase positive. Growth also occurs in a 6.5% NaCl solution. On Baird Parker Medium Staphylococcus spp. show as fermentative, except for S. saprophyticus which is oxidative. Staphylococcus spp. are resistant to Bacitracin (0.04 U resistance = <10mm zone of inhibition) and susceptible to Furazolidone (100Ī¼g resistance = <15mm zone of inhibition).
Further biochemical testing is needed to identify down to the species level.

An explanation of The Joy Division Litmus Test

Although it may now be lost in the mysts of thyme, the poll below is still relevant to this blog. In the winter of 2008, Mele and I went to live in Queensland. In order to survive, I bluffed my way into a job at a Coffee Club.
It was quite a reasonable place to work: the hours were regular, the staff were quite nice, it wasn't particularly taxing on my brain.
There were a few downsides: In the six weeks or so that I worked there, there was about a 90% staff turnover (contributed to by my leaving). This wasn't seen as a result of the low pay, the laughability of staff prices or the practice of not distributing tips to staff, rather it was blamed on the lack of work ethic among Bribie Island's youth.
However, one of the stranger aspects of the cultural isolation that touched our lives during our time "up there" was the fact that nobody at my work had heard of the band Joy Division.
The full explanation is available here.
But please, interact a little further and vote in my ongoing poll. The results are slowly mounting up, proving one thing: people read this blog are more well-informed about Joy Division than anyone who works at the Coffee Club on Bribie Island.

Have you heard of the band Joy Division?

Champions of Guess The Header

  • What is Guess The Header about? Let’s ask regular “Writing” reader, Shippy: "Anyway, after Franzy's stunning September, and having a crack at 'Guess The Header' for the first time - without truly knowing what I was doing mind you - I think I finally understand what 'GTH' is all about. At first I thought you needed to actually know what it was. Don't get me wrong — if you know what it is, it may help you. I now realise that it's more Franzy's way of invoking thought around an image or, more often than not, part of an image. If you dissect slightly the GTH explanatory sentence at the bottom of his blog you come up with this: “The photo is always taken by me and always connects in some way to the topic of the blog entry it heads up.” When the header is put up, the blog below it will in some obscure way have something to do with it. “Interesting comments are judged and scored arbitrarily and the process is open to corruption and bribery with all correspondence being entered into after the fact and on into eternity, ad infinitum amen.” Franzy judges it, but it's not always the GTH that describes the place perfectly that gets it. “The frequent commenters, the wits, the wags and the outright smartarses who, each entry, engage to both guess the origin and relevance of the strip of photo at the top (or “head”) of each new blog and also who leave what I deem the most interesting comment.” It generally helps if you're a complete smartarse and can twist things to mean whatever you feel they should mean - exactly the way Franzy would like things to be twisted." - Shippy Blogger and GTH point scorer.
